We have been talking about juvenile delinquency and its increase everyday understanding it is related to messy political situations, and all kinds of violence and fornication via television programs. However, medical science gives a different possible explanation for the problem of juvenile delinquency.
When we were children, there weren’t many television programs and shows like today. So we used to play with shuttlecocks made out of lead. Also we had toy soldiers made out of lead and competed with each other to have the most. When we were children and even now we use lead in everyday life. For instance, lead is included in home utensils, hair dye, fuel, water, glass etc. It is obvious that lead emits poison not only through our skin but even in the air we breathe, which saturates to our very cells. Most dangerous to human health is peeling paint and the resulting paint chips. Because paint is crumbled and becomes smaller, finally it is saturated into the human body. It raises lead levels in blood tissue. We don’t mind our toddlers playing with some dried paint fallen off the window or door. Or we give them toys made by lead avoiding their voices or cry. But, these toys and paint make our precious children ill and poisoned.
World Health Organization puts more attention to toxic lead, since the science has determined the lead is considered as the most toxic substance or heavy metal in the world. Five years ago, Chinese doctors and pediatricians diagnosed about 15 thousand children and output was a certain alarm among medical science. Over 80 per cent of those children had excessive level of lead in their body. For this reason, Government of USA decided to renovate and sanitize children’s home, who were poisoned by lead. In Thailand, 500 thousand people are suffering from high blood pressure, of which over 400 have died. The main reason is lead.
We can say that Mongolia is the same as this country. We breathe polluted air and use or eat a variety of products, foods and beverage everyday not knowing that they contain lead, because we cannot see it.
Thirty four per cent of air pollution of our city is directly connected to car poisonous fume. Noxious fumes include great amounts of lead. In Ulaanbaatar city, lead is 4.5 times more than action level in ground and 2.3 times in air.
Lately, at our market, we sell and buy cheaper paint, fuel and other products which are concrete where those imported from. Majority of imported products are from China. Although Russia is listed at first place amongst other countries, in other words it started in 1920 to use an innocuous substance, but today Russia undergoes market crisis chasing after benefit.
Unfortunately it is the same in the People’s Republic of China. Both our neighboring countries do not wish to decrease the manufacturing of products with lead.
There is almost no one, who researches or analyzes the lead and its quality, which threatens worldwide. We give some hypotension pill to our elder people and send our children to special schools if they are disabled. Are we solving this critical issue on lead?
